Why a Smith machine instead of a power rack?

The guided bar only moves up and down, so the bar cannot tip or drift forward, and the catches let you rack the bar at any point in the lift without a spotter. A power rack allows a free bar path; the FS-30 trades that freedom for a fixed groove and built-in stops.
